MNR Park Avenue Tunnel Improvements

New York, NY

TCT is providing scheduling and cost estimating services to support preliminary engineering, prepare bridging documents, and assist in the procurement and award of a design-build contract for the construction of four new emergency exits in the Park Avenue Tunnel (PAT). These exits will be located on both sides of Park Avenue, tentatively at the intersections of East 65th and East 79th Streets. The exact locations of the emergency exits will be confirmed during the design development phase. Each emergency exit will include the necessary infrastructure to safely facilitate emergency egress from the track level to the street, where headhouses will be constructed to protect the exit points. These headhouses will feature architectural designs that reflect the historic character of Park Avenue.

Additionally, TCT is providing scheduling and cost estimating services for the replacement of the existing tunnel lighting system, upgrading the tunnel fire alarm system, and replacing the traction power third rail and associated equipment on all four tracks between 57th and 97th Streets. TCT will also support the preliminary engineering, prepare bridging documents, and assist in the procurement and award of a design-build contract to upgrade the PAT fire standpipe system on all four tracks, as well as the fire alarm detection and prevention systems at both the existing and proposed emergency exits. TCT is also providing risk management services, including risk identification, quantitative and qualitative risk assessments, and development of mitigation strategies to support project delivery.
