Red Hook Coastal Resiliency Program

Brooklyn, NY

Based on the feasibility assessment analysis, as commissioned by the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) and New York City Mayor’s Office of Recovery and Resiliency (ORR), the project aims to protect the low-lying Red Hook neighborhood from coastal storm surge and flooding, like that experienced during Hurricane Sandy, by implementing an integrated system of flood defenses that combines raised streets, floodwalls, upgraded drainage infrastructure, and deployable barriers. The goal is not only to reduce flood risk and improve long-term climate resilience, but also to do so in a way that preserves neighborhood access, supports industrial and maritime uses, and seamlessly integrates protective infrastructure into the existing urban environment without isolating the community from its waterfront.

TCT provided cost estimating services at the preliminary and final phases.
