MTA NYCT Zero-Emissions Bus Fleet (ZEFT) Study
New York, NY
As the largest public bus system in North America, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is committed to combating climate change by transitioning its diesel and CNG bus fleets to a 100% zero-emissions fleet by 2040. This initiative is expected to avoid 500,000 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions annually, eliminate other harmful exhaust pollutants associated with diesel, and improve the health and well-being of customers.
Toscano Clements Taylor (TCT) is providing cost estimating and scheduling services to New York City Transit’s (NYCT) Department of Buses and the MTA Bus Company on a task order basis. These task orders include reviewing technical documentation and reports, as well as drafting or reviewing technical instruction documents, scopes of work, and specifications. TCT recently performed a life cycle cost analysis/total cost of ownership. The services primarily involve mechanical and electrical expertise, requiring knowledge of basic machine design, electrical systems, mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, HVAC systems, and their applications in heavy-duty vehicle maintenance.
