SUNY Albany Emerging Technology andEntrepreneurship Complex (ETEC)

Albany, NY

The NYSUNY2020 initiative was a research, education, and economic development initiative that created and retained over 2,500 jobs, advanced innovative research and technologies, and generated over $1.8 billion in economic impact in the region. At the heart of this initiative was the construction of a new $180 million Emerging Technology and Entrepreneurship Complex (ETEC) at SUNY Albany that provided business and industry a “front‐door” to four co‐located, global‐leading research clusters: Climate and Environmental Science, Biomedical Sciences and Biotechnology, Forensic Science and Cyber Security, and Advanced Data Analytics.

Estimating: TCT provided a conceptual estimate, schematic design estimate, design manual estimate, and construction documents estimate for the 218,500 GSF science/research facility, including utilities relocation, potential connection to existing building(s), and associated site work. Included within the building’s design are 84,500 SF of research and instructional space, including offices, for atmospheric, biology, technology-intensive climate and weather research labs; 9,000 SF of administrative, technology transfer, and research support offices and functions; 10,000 SF of support spaces, such as classrooms and lounges; and 25,000 square feet of space dedicated to industry partners for future fit-up.

Scheduling: TCT provided scheduling services in Primavera for the construction of the New Emerging Technology and Entrepreneurial Complex (ETEC) at SUNY Albany. A baseline schedule was created which was made up of four parts; site works schedule, core and shell schedule, fit-out schedule, and overall master schedule for entire project. TCT reviewed the schedule for three different contractors and update master schedule.
